Aerotek Energy Services is seeking a qualified Applications Engineer for a south Austin, privately held company that is a developer and owner of a patented suite of innovative technologies for water purification, remediation and process improvement.
REQUIREMENTS:
Education:
- Degree in Mechanical, Chemical or Industrial engineering.
- EIT required, must be willing to obtain PE license in future.
Experience:
- Minimum of 5 to 10 years in the engineering and construction industry, preferably in the energy industry and/or the industrial water and waste water equipment manufacture / installation businesses.
- Knowledge of control/ ladder logic as well as control system operation is desired.
- Knowledge of heat transfer processes, heat exchangers, and/ or natural gas compression operations preferred.
- Experience with industrial waste water treatment, handling or disposal as well as oil and gas environmental issues is highly desired.
- Required computer skills include the use of Microsoft Office Word, PowerPoint, Excel or equivalent spreadsheet programs; CAD systems development experience is also highly desirable as is Matlab, Chemlab or Mathcad.
Additional:
- Excellent written and oral communication skills with the ability to develop and explain technical reports and system operations to peers and customer engineer reps in the field.
- Knowledge of Requirements Analysis, Design Skills, Project Management, Process Improvement, Understanding of Manufacturing Methods and Procedures, Technical Understanding, Documentation Skills, AutoCAD, Pro-Engineer, Solidworks or similar software
- Valid driver’s license and a clean driving record. Willing and able to travel up to 40% of the time (Nationally).
- Field Engineering capability. Must be open to working in field directly with operations and construction personnel for install and commissioning of equipment.
DUTIES/ RESPONSIBILITES:
- Interacts with members of the engineering and operations team to develop appropriate equipment solutions, complete required deliverables for installation and follows through in an advisory role with the operations team for implementation of produced design.
- Preparation of mass / energy balances, piping & instrumentation diagrams, electrical one-line diagrams, controls & logic diagrams, equipment specifications and layout drawings including interface details with existing operating mechanical equipment.
- Responsible for the development of conceptual design of heat transfer systems and selection of appropriate evaporation equipment pertaining to marketing activities.
- Capable of managing the technical aspects of a project, including process selection at proposal stage through all technical elements during equipment manufacture, site installation, and initial start-up of the systems.
- Direct involvement in the development of operation and maintenance manuals and procedures, including technical management of O&M contracts.
- Works directly with vendors to select and acquire appropriate materials, equipment, components, etc and ensures proper integration into equipment designs and manufacturing.
Accomplishes engineering and organization mission by completing related requirements as needed.
- During the first 6 months, candidate will receive office and infield training in the specialized systems developed and deployed by the company for industrial waste water applications.
- Occasional field troubleshooting, installation direction and assistance.
