POSITION DESCRIPTION: The candidate is expected to provide technical support to drilling and workover in the area of drilling and completion fluids design and formulation, drilling mud additives and chemicals, and troubleshooting of drilling rig problems related to drilling fluids. The candidate will be provided with the required training of know-how and necessary knowledge and hands-on- experience to lead research and technologies projects. The candidate's responsibilities includes but not limited to: design cost effective drilling and completion fluid programs for oil and gas wells through laboratory testing, monitor the field applications and provide troubleshooting to field problems, assist senior scientists in research and technology, introduce new technologies in drilling fluid designs, using new chemicals and additives, through applied research utilizing laboratory testing and evaluation, develop product specifications and laboratory test procedures for drilling fluid chemicals and additives, introduce new technologies in drilling and completion fluids, work closely with proponents, communicate effectively with field personnel, involve in multi-disciplinary technical study teams, and lead incident investigation teams as applicable, and involve in the quality assurance program for mud additives.
SELECTION CRITERIA: Bsc in related engineering or science disciplines (petroleum engineering, chemical engineering, chemistry/industrial chemistry and geology) as appropriate for the area of expertise for the assigned jobs as described above with preference given to advanced degree. More than 10 years of industry experience in the area of drilling fluids. Good interpersonal skills including the ability to contribute in a team environment and independently. Technical experience will be evident through publications and industry experience history. Mentor young engineers and mud specialists.
