Location: Saudi Arabia The Saudi Aramco Exploration & Petroleum Engineering Technology Department provides an environment for creativity and innovation in the upstream sector by creating new opportunities to find, develop, and produce hydrocarbon resources, developing cost-effective solutions to meet Saudi Aramco's unique upstream challenges. The Exploration and Producing Advanced Research Center is organized into the following technology teams: Geophysics Technology Team, Geology Technology Team, Simulator R&D Team, Drilling Technology Team & Reservoir Technology Team.
Candidate should hold an advanced degree in petroleum engineering or a closely related subject (e.g., physics), with a PhD degree being highly preferred. It would be expected that the candidate would have 20-25 years combined experience in the oil industry, academia and/or government employment related to advanced petrophysics, with at least 10-15 years devoted primarily to research and development. Excellence in research will be evidenced by the candidate's publications, invited presentations, patents, professional awards and honors, and professional society activities. The candidate would be expected to be experienced in a broad variety of advanced petrophysics technology areas, and have worked in a variety of advanced pterophysics especially electromagnetic, resisitivity and saturation modeling in both carbonates and sandstones. Significant knowledge of other areas of petroleum engineering and geoscience (e.g., reservoir engineering, geology, rock physics, etc.) is essential. Excellent knowledge of other petrophysical areas such as nuclear and acoustics is a plus. At least minimal computer (programming, UNIX/LINUX and PC). International travel is expected.
Initiate, lead, provide consultation and conduct research in petrophysical and reservoir engineering with focus on formation evaluation and advanced petrophysics areas individually and/or along with a team. Specific focus is on electromagnetic, resistivity modeling, surface chemistry and wettability for the purpose of reservoir monitoring and quantification of saturation. If needed perform own modeling using either commercial tools or build own programs. Be a team player, flexible, and work with a variety of professionals from various backgrounds and different levels of expertise. Take part in multiple mid to long-term research projects. Ability to generate new ideas and projects, and contribute substantially to existing efforts is required. Ability and desire to mentor young professionals is also required.
