Organization/DepartmentA major oil and gas operating company requires a Drilling & Completions Technician. The selected candidate will provide supporting research, data summaries and associated analysis as directed by Drilling and Completion Engineering staff, heavily engaged in extended reach drilling and completion projects. The Drilling & Completions Technician will also support onshore well construction engineering staff with respect to the following systems: daily well construction reporting (WellView); Operational Integrity Manual reporting (OIMS); environmental reporting; policy maintenance (program authorizations and supporting manuals); well filing and technical library. Support offshore operational personnel with daily well construction report quality. Steward the flat time reduction process. Conduct planning meetings, lessons learned meetings and after action reviews. Continuously monitor well progress.
Job descriptionResponsibilities
•Process drilling/completion information and develop technical reports and presentations, e.g., directional assembly characterization, open/cased hole friction factors, clean out assembly description, intervention assembly characterization (coil/wireline), management of change register, nonconformance reporting (NCRs),
•Lead “End of Well Report” process.
•Work with the well engineer to construct well cost estimates. Monitor actual well costs and surveillance well as operations progress.
•Maintain electronic well construction filing system including programs, historical charts, technician reports, and detailed well schematics.
•Onshore maintenance of WellView daily reporting system.
•Maintain best practices register onshore/offshore and develop electronic version suitable for searching specific topics and collating lessons learned.
•Process drilling/completion information and provide summary information for company reporting requirements, e.g., AFE summary charts, management summary reports, end of well reconciliation, well summary reports (cost variance & NPT summaries).
•Maintenance of well construction policy documentation, e.g., editing manuals and work methods at the direction of onshore construction staff.
•Maintenance of engineering processes including management of change (MOC) registers and associated well filing.
•Audit central well files in accordance with file code system.
•Organize and maintain technical library for engineering staff.
•Maintain and report on action lists with respect to key service providers, e.g., continuous improvement and “Technical Recap” initiatives etc.
•Steward the flat time reduction initiative. Conduct planning meetings, lessons learned meetings and after action reviews. Continuously monitor well progress and update tracking sheets as required.
RequirementsRequirements
•Petroleum Technology diploma and/or related experience in industrial projects.
•Ability to work in fast-paced, technically demanding engineering environment.
•General knowledge of regulatory, safety and engineering processes in the well construction industry.
•General familiarity with drilling and completion processes desired.
•Highly proficient in the use of computer applications, i.e., Word, PowerPoint, Excel, technical drawing, & database manipulation.
•Highly effective written and communication skills.
