MAJOR/TYPICAL RESPONSIBILITY AREAS:
Identify the major duties and tasks accomplished by this position.
Duties and Responsibilities
1
Perform all subsea design engineering functions under general supervision.
2
As a lead subsea engineer on a subsea project or a segment of a larger multi-disciplines project. Oversea project progress, staff, budget, monitors change orders and attend regular project meetings.

May be assigned to work on complex subsea projects with conflicting design requirements, unconventional materials or installation requirements.

Must demonstrate creativity, foresight, and mature engineering judgement.

Provides technical guidance/coaching to subsea designers and less experience engineers and can be consulted extensively by associates.

Research available subsea hardware options as well as staying abreast of current design qualification efforts in industry in order to implement them into the field architecture.

Develop innovative subsea design, inventions, patents, technologies and present these in white papers at industry trade shows.

Generate cost effective field architecture design, interfacing with Pipeline, Flow Assurance, Riser Analysis, Marine, etc. as applicable.

Prepare and checks design basis and project execution plan and approve project documentation

Assign procurement packages and supervise packages of less experienced engineers.

Resolve important questions and negotiate with key engineers and officials of other organizations.

Check specs, datasheets, reports, technical notes, procedures, Instructions and Notes to Bidders, RFQ and procurement packages for PO award and material requisitions, and bid evaluations.

Provide bid engineering support and prepare CTR related to subsea design and installation.

Provide marketing support to the business development group

Offshore support as required for the project.

Stay updated on McDermott ISO 9001 procedures.
Job Requirements:
ENTRY QUALIFICATIONS:
What are the minimum qualifications an employee must have in order to perform the duties of the position? (I.e. educational requirements, licenses, certification, work experience, training etc.)
* Min. BS degree in engineering
* Certification as a Licensed Professional Engineer is highly recommended.
* More than 15 years of professional engineering experience in the offshore subsea industry.
* Familiar with field development scenarios, riser and subsea structure design and installation scenarios both in shallow and deep water. Primarily in the GOM.
* Knowledgeable of subsea design codes (API, DnV, ASME, BS).
* Able to work independently and make decisions on subsea engineering problems and methods.
* Able to demonstrate creativity, foresight, and mature engineering judgment in anticipating and solving engineering problem efficiently and economically.
* Must have good interpersonal skills and able to interface with Clients, Consultants, Vendors, drafting designer and other lead engineers in a multi-discipline projects.
* Must have good computer skills and be proficient on Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
* Must be organized both physically and in electronic data storage habits.
* Must have good writing and presentation skills, proficiency in project management.
* Has excellent work ethic and maintains a good work attitude.
