BHP Billiton’s marketing activities are undertaken through a centralised marketing structure. This central structure is based around two hubs in The Netherlands and Singapore, supported by marketers in over thirty regional offices in our main markets.
Support the Iron Ore Scheduler, in Singapore, by providing scheduling, logistics planning, and customer services for the Iron Ore Marketing Unit. This will include ship scheduling, inventory planning, logistics strategy formulation and implementation, and cost control.
POSITION SYNOPSIS
We now seek a customer-focused professional, with superior analytical skills, to assume responsibility for planning and scheduling the shipment of Iron Ore. Achieving success will require you to develop good working relationships with key stakeholders including your fellow Iron Ore Administrator Distribution, regional offices, the freight desk and the Iron Ore mine and port assets. By applying supply chain management principles you will deliver value to the business through the superior alignment of supply and demand and the optimization of capacity utilization.
As well as developing and maintaining shipping and delivery schedules and monitoring production forecasts, you will:
• Assist the Iron Ore Scheduler with managing the Supply Chain, from mine asset to customer;
• Manage the movement of material and the maintenance of inventory levels within prescribed thresholds, using the appropriate controls and documentation;
• Optimize shipping arrangements and supply chain management processes, identifying opportunities for streamlining and value adding;
• Maintain and control SAP and APO database integrity regarding sales, shipping and production information;
• Provide monthly analysis of performance to plan in terms of capacity utilization, shipping and sales;
• Contribute to Iron Ore Reporting on forecast and budget performance variances.
SKILLS & EXPERIENCE
To be considered, you should be tertiary qualified in Commerce, Marketing or Logistics, with substantial international Logistics experience. You must have a portfolio of accomplishment that testifies to your sound planning skills, and proven expertise in the bulk materials and commercial environments. You must be computer literate, and must have had exposure to SAP, APO and BW.
