Aerotek Energy Services is seeking a Purchasing Agent for our subsea oil & gas client located in Houston, TX.
This is a Contract to hire opportunity & our client is looking to interview & hire one candidate at this time.
Essential Job Duties:
-Procure materials, components, supplies & equipment at a favorable cost; consistent with quality schedule and in compliance with company policy & procedures concerning purchasing.
-Investigate & recommend sources for supplies at effective cost savings.
-Provide assistance with expediting orders & communicating effectively regarding issues affecting production schedules.
-Interfaces with various departments as required to solve problems.
-Must be able to prioritize & maintain & track documentation.
Qualifications & Background Required:
EDUCATION: High School Diploma or equivalent plus 2 years of college education. Continuing Education in the purchasing field is highly desired.
WORK EXPERIENCE: 5 Years of working experience in handling assigned commodities & working knowledge of purchasing procedures in the oil & gas industry.
SPECIFIC SKILLS REQUIRED:
-Ability to deal with people inside & outside the company as a professional.
-Must have strong skills in negotiating, communication, show initiative, be organized, detail oriented, & creative.
-Must be able to read & interpret blue prints.
-Position requires knowledge of materials & fabrication processes along with metals and weldments should be a strength.
-Oil and gas experience/Background is a must (to understand demands from clients and o & g expectations)
-Experience in vendor rating (will be required to rate vendors).
