Exploration Geoscientist
Based in Woodside Perth Office
Opportunities now exist for Exploration Geoscientist of 5 to 15 years experience to work at the Woodside head office in Perth.
Responsibilities:
* Prepare fully integrated subsurface interpretations to evaluate the prospect primary risk parameters of structure presence, structure effectiveness, reservoir presence, reservoir effectiveness and charge.
* Interpret technical data over existing lease inventory, finalize maps and support data, evaluate risk and uncertainty, prepare recommendations for exploration well locations or asset rationalization.
* Prepare exploration plans & appropriation requests, monitor drilling wells & conduct post drill reviews.
* Assist in the preparation of volumetric & economic analyses for prospects & well locations.
* Identify and evaluate prospects available through farm-ins/joint venture opportunities, asset sales.
* Evaluate and recommend geological and seismic data acquisition opportunities, seismic data reprocessing, new technology applications and technical services. Assure the delivery of quality products and services at competitive rates.
* Handle tasks efficiently while working cooperatively with multiple team members.
Required Skills
* Experience with Linux, NT and Windows platforms is essential; including Landmark's OpenWorks application suite and Microsoft Office applications.
* Experience in seismic interpretation is essential.
* Strong knowledge of sequence stratigraphic analysis, structural geology and subsurface mapping.
* Strong technical background in the practical application of geological and geophysical technologies such as 2D and 3D seismic reflection data and their derivative products (AVO/AVA, inverse and forward modelling, post-stack and pre-stack time & depth migration).
* Knowledge of velocity modelling, synthetic seismograms, fluid substitution modelling, would be desirable.
* Working knowledge of well log analysis, petrophysics, risk evaluation, velocity fields, borehole seismic, potential fields, geochemistry, seismic stratigraphy, biostratigraphy and basic reservoir engineering.
* Working knowledge & experience of geoscientific applications such as HampsonRussell, Petrosys, ArcGIS, IHS, and VoxelGeo would be an advantage.
* Knowledge of portfolio and project management, strategic planning, process analysis.
* Willing to take a leadership role in the development & application of new exploration technologies.
* The position requires someone who is motivated, possesses good written & verbal communication skills, problem solving skills.
* The candidate must be able to work independently and but should also have strong teamwork skills.
Degree in Geology and/or Geophysics with advanced degree preferred.
Professional experience with 5-15 years of progressive experience in the oil & gas industry, preferably with an operating company.
