Great opportunity with a well established company located in the state of Texas for a Mechanical Equipment Design Engineer. This position will be responsible for designing pressure vessels (ASME Sec. VIII, Div 1 with working knowledge of Compress or PVElite software), rotating equipment and heat exchangers. The ability to read P&IDs, mechanical drawings and isometrics is a must. Any skid / modular system design is a plus (according to ASME B31.3). Client prefers experience with structural calculations, pipe stress analysis and FEA. Plant experience is desired but not required. Must be willing to work overtime if needed. Occasional travel (less than 10%) will be required. To be considered you must have a BSME, an intimate knowledge of ASME Section VIII, and familiarity with ANSI and API codes. Experience with pressure vessel calculations, client spec reviews, and piping design and specification is required. This position also required exceptional customer service, communication and negotiation skills and the ability to develop sound working relationships with internal/external customers. Questions you will be asked:
• Do you have a Bachelors in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited university? How many years of experience do you have designing pressure vessels (ASME Sec. VIII), working knowledge of rotating equipment and heat exchangers? Please describe. Do you have experience with pressure vessel design software? If so, which ones and how familiar?
• How many years of experience do you possess within a petrochemical or refinery facility? If so, in what aspect? Are you able to interpret specs, P&ID-s, mechanical drawings and isometrics? Have you participated in a skid-modular system design? Please describe. Are you able to perform structural calculations? Please describe.
• Do you have experience determining vessel and piping metallurgy based on process conditions? Please describe. How many years experience do you have with ANSI and API codes? Please describe. Do you have experience interpreting client specifications? Please describe. Do you have experience completing equipment spec sheets? Explain.
• Where do you currently live and why are you interested in a position located in the Houston TX area? Are you willing to work overtime as needed?
• What is your current or most recent annual salary (please break down base, bonus, etc.) and what is your desired annual salary for this position?
