GREAT OPPORTUNITY!! One of the largest electric utilities in Canada is currently seeking two (2) SENIOR CONSTRUCTION ENGINEERS for their locations near Vancouver, BC. The successful candidate will have: an engineering degree- preferably in an Electrical or Mechanical discipline, Eligibility for registration as a Professional Engineer(PE) with the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of BC, and a minimum of eight (8) years experience in the relevant engineering field including considerable electric utility experience. Other qualification include: Technical knowledge in the construction, testing, commissioning and maintenance of hydro electrical generation equipment and experience/knowledge with safety practices in lock out systems in a generation plant. BIG PLUSES include: Experience in project management, construction management, procurement, project scheduling and cost estimating.

The main objective of this position is to act as a technical resource on generation capital projects for the Construction Management department. The successful candidate will provide technical support and leadership to capital projects in a wide variety of generation work including renovation, upgrading, and new projects for all stages of development from overview studies to final design and construction. This position will also review constructability issues and provides final Constructability Reports using your ability and experience to analyze, interpret, and evaluate proposed construction, procurement and estimating methodologies to ensure that all aspects associated with the implementation of design work are safe, technical sound and logical. Other duties include: Provide work leadership and technical direction to junior engineers or other construction support staff, Oversee the installation, testing and commissioning of a variety of generation equipment, oversee construction procedures for the installation of a variety of electrical and rotating equipment, and supervise commissioning and testing procedures for electrical and mechanical equipment in a generation plant.
