Location: Newark, NJ, USA
A leader in the light rail transportation solutions is actively interviewing for a Systems Safety Supervisor for their Newark, NJ facility. This position will require a person with 5 years of Occupational, Health and Safety experience. Client would prefer the candidate have transportation experience i.e. rail, transit; will consider aerospace, automotive, or construction industry experience. Client would also prefer candidates local to the area.

Responsibilities:

-> Provide technical expertise dealing with the mechanical and electrical subsystems providing a safe operation that is in compliance with regulatory requirements
-> Investigate accidents/incidents/near misses and report fully the results and develop alternate solutions to prevent reoccurrence
-> Collaborate with engineering department in the testing of systems and components to provide a safe operation for employees and passengers
-> Must be able to perform all the Health and Safety tasks required to promote a safe environment and to keep program in compliance with regulatory regulations

Requirements:

-> Bachelors in Health & Safety is preferred, but will consider BS Degree in Science ( chemistry, biology, physics ), Engineering or related area
-> Candidate with recent Masters in Health and Safety, is a plus. Especially if their college projects consisted robotics design, electrical or mechanical applications
-> 5 years of Occupational, Health and Safety experience, will consider less depending on education, training and practical experience
-> Successful candidates will posses a mechanical and electrical aptitude and be experience with their applications
-> Ideal candidate would have strong transportation background, will consider aerospace, automotive, or construction industry experience

• Describe your Health & Safety experience and background, highlight any transit industry experience.

• Briefly describe your mechanical and electrical aptitude and experience, as this position will perform tasks; such as evaluating sensors located on the track system from both a mechanical and electrical perspective

• Describe your educational background, certifications and training you received. Highlight any health and safety training. Including any projects from college, seminars, etc that were health and safety related.

• Why would you be a good candidate for this position? Bring out skills, experience, or knowledge that you have that were not addressed in this description or questions. Such as computer experience, etc.
