Product Design Engineer - Mechanical/Human Factors/Electronics

A communications company that designs and installs voice recognition systems is actively looking for a Mechanical Product Design Engineer for a full time opportunity in PA.

Responsibilities:

-> Lead the high-level design activities of multiple projects to drive innovation and creativity of cross-functional teams
-> Orchestrate design reviews from the conceptual phase through to final design release
-> Help to establish good customer requirements and translate them into effective designs
-> Identify, evaluate, and work closely with outside vendors to develop new technology and solutions
-> Lead the detailed design and rigorous testing of mechanical parts, primarily using plastic injection molding processes
-> Assist in the creation of complete drawing packages (per ANSI Standards) including detailed specifications, simulation, test results, verification support documentation, and bill of materials
-> Review development of manufacturing test procedures and fixtures as well as the analysis of test and field returns
-> Provide technical guidance to more junior engineers and technicians
-> Design and conduct experiments for troubleshooting, failure analysis, and root cause identification

Requirements:

-> B.S. in Mechanical Engineering, MSME Preferred
-> 8+ years industry experience, particularly in the design and analysis of plastic injection molded parts in the field of rugged mobile electronic/computer packaging design
-> 4+ years of relevant and demonstrable industrial design experience - human factors considerations, usability research, design conceptualization, etc
-> Experience in roles related to developing, manufacturing, and supporting complex electronic products in a medium-to-high volume production environment
-> Experience with the full life cycle of bringing products to market with a record of successful completion of products and introduction into the marketplace
-> Practical experience with failure analysis and troubleshooting to the component level
-> Analysis of design components including Finite Element Analysis, thermal, shock, and vibration
-> Proficient in the use of MCAD design tools, specifically Pro/Engineer Wildfire
-> Practical experience with DFM/DFT methodologies in an electronic manufacturing environment (Plus!!)
-> Project management experience (Plus)
