Location: Kansas City, KS, USA
Client located near the Kansas City, MO area has an approximate 5 month contract opening (with potential for extension) for a Lead Instrumentation & Controls Engineer with fossil powered facilities experience.

This position will be responsible to work with the owners procurement and generating station personnel to help identify a preferred list of equipment suppliers. You will be required to develop a firm understanding of the existing Generating Station instrumentation and control equipment and systems to ensure that new AQC systems interface properly and to work with the owners engineer to develop P&IDs, control philosophy and alarm, emergency, shutdown, and safety instrumented systems. Additionally you will support the development of contract bid packages, to field verify equipment as needed, and provide key reference information to Owners Engineer such as existing P&IDs, I/O lists, and boiler and AQCS control logic diagrams, panel layouts, Owner standards, etc. and to perform additional assignments as requested.

Qualified candidates must have a BSEE or BSME degree from an ABET accredited program and approximately 7-10 years of relevant experience with 5 years dedicated to fossil power facilities. A demonstrated competency with DCS, PLC, and INFI 90 control system hardware and architecture, HMI and system configuration, fire and gas systems, instrumentation calibration, and loop check and commissioning is needed. You must have a knowledge of all instrumentation related standards, codes, and regulations. Any skills in the area of start-up and performance testing or experience with power plant AQC systems is a plus. A PE license is also a plus.
