A well established, stable, independently owned energy services company specializing in demand-side energy-efficiency solutions is actively searching for a Project Engineer in their Overland Park, KS office. The Project is responsible for developing energy efficiency and capital improvement projects, by identifying, assessing, and structuring technical and financial solutions to meet customer objectives. Must be legally authorized for permanent work in the USA, client will not sponsor.

Responsibilities:

-> Assist the sales staff to screen and qualify the feasibility of energy efficiency and capital improvement opportunities. This will involve attending selected customer meetings, conducting site trips to collect facility and utility data; and developing and running energy models and calculations to determine the technical and economic viability of energy efficiency and capital improvement projects. Energy models and calculations include: commercially-available analysis packages and the use and/or development of detailed Excel spreadsheet calculations
-> Further develop, define technically and economically feasible applications by performing preliminary engineering/design, project metering and measurements of critical parameters; and coordinating with external vendors and contractors to develop designs and technical proposals
-> Develop technical scope of work for selected technologies and manage internal and external engineering resources in order to determine cost and schedule. Solicit and evaluate construction bids and recommend awards to contractors. Negotiate pricing with contractors
-> Perform utility rate analyses and generate applications for utility rebates associated with energy efficiency projects
-> Drive the technical due diligence from initial screen until turnover to the project management group for the implementation phase. This will involve identifying known risks (i.e. technical, construction, price, schedule, environmental, warranties, performance guarantees etc.); indicate impact and how they will be addressed and mitigated
-> Provide assistance to Project Management Group to support implementation of projects, as required
-> Develop and document internal policies and procedures; keep current on developments and new technologies in the industry

Requirements:

-> A Bachelors Degree Mechanical (ME), architectural (AE) or construction related degree required. PE preferred
-> 3-5 years of progressive experience in developing MEP (mechanical, electrical, plumbing), ESPC (energy savings performance contracts) and State and Local Performance Contracting projects is a must
-> Experience in detailed energy simulations and in actual energy systems project implementation preferred
-> Specific experience with building energy systems including HVAC, Central Utilities and Electrical Systems
-> Must have building energy use modeling and simulation experience (e.g. eQUEST, AG132, DOE2, ASHRAE Modified Bin Analysis)
-> Must be able to communicate clearly and effectively in English
-> Confident and comfortable when working with external customers
-> Experience in the overall integration of design engineering, construction, start-up/turnover, and subsequent operation and maintenance of energy projects
