Design Engineer - Mechanical/Medical Device/ProE

Location: Durham, NC, USA
A company located in North Central North Carolina has an immediate need for a Medical Design Engineer for a twelve month contract position. Client would prefer local candidates but might be willing to discuss Per Diem if needed. This position must be filled now!

Responsibilities:

-> Apply theoretical knowledge of design and engineering principals for solving technical problems
-> Designing prototype medical devices
-> Create/develop new test methods, simple statistical experiments, limited validation studies
-> Develop Detailed CAD models and drawings using Pro/E
-> Develop innovative and feasible mechanical solutions at the component/system assembly level
-> Actively participate in team ideation sessions

Requirements:

-> Must have BS in Mechanical Engineering or Biomedical Engineering
-> A Masters degree is strongly preferred
-> Must have a minimum of five years experience in product design engineering in the medical industry
-> Previous experience with precision injection molded plastic part design is strongly preferred
-> Proficient with Pro/E and/or Pro/E Wildfire
-> The ideal candidate will have pre-clinical trial setup experience
-> Familiarity with ISO, FDA, GMP standards and guidelines is a big plus
-> Familiarity with bicompatibility/sterility issues related to the materials used in medical devices is a big plus
