Location: Aiken, SC, USA
Client located in Aiken, SC has a 9 month (possibly longer) contract position for a Technical Writer with Office 2007 experience to perform formatting and editing tasks in the preparation of procedures, plans, proposals, presentations, reports, technical papers, newsletters, and other materials, as required. This is a part time position (20 to 30 hours per week) but does have potential to become permanent. Local candidates as there is no per diem or mobilization available. US Citizenship is required to be considered.

Responsibilities:

-> Proofread and perform routine editorial functions, including formatting and stylesheet verification, copy editing, and some production planning
-> Ensure all assigned documents comply with their required presentation, correct use of paragraph headings and numbering, referencing of illustrative and tabular matter, and applicable bibliographic styles
-> Generate original flow charts to graphically present steps in procedures
-> Maintain files (electronic and hard copy) of changes and comments, backup files and scans and enters documents into electronic SharePoint flow paths or electronic files
-> Take text and information and generate graphics or tables to display information in presentations that are clear and convey technical information in viewgraphs or figures
-> Work directly with Senior Technical Editors or authors / requestors to review copy, illustrations, and other materials submitted for inclusion in assigned documents
-> Perform other responsibilities associated with this position as may be appropriate

Requirements:

-> 2-year degree in Business Administration or related field (or equivalent) and 2-4 years of related work experience
-> Excellent Office 2007 skills (particularly WORD, EXCEL and POWERPOINT) and have (or be able to quickly gain) knowledge of Visio
-> Experience proofreading and editing technical engineering publications, specifications, and proposals from rough draft through post-print
-> Demonstrated proficiency in keyboard skills and a working knowledge of MS Windows and related software for word processing, desktop publishing, and graphics
-> Good written and oral communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills
-> Previous experience in working with technical documents and productions that involve budget, schedule or significant volumes of technical (scientific/engineering) information preferred

What other operating system and software are you proficient with that will show your ability to maintain files (electronic and hard copy), backup files and scans and enters documents into electronic SharePoint flow paths or electronic files?

• What is your current or most recent annual salary or hourly rate of pay? What is your desired hourly rate of pay for this position and are you interested in this as a part time position (20 to 30 hours per week)
