Engineering Manager - Design/Electromechanical Products 65-100 K/yr

Location: Nashville, TN, USA
Well-established company one hour outside of Nashville, TN is currently interviewing for a Senior Design Engineer Manager, who will manage a team of designers in the mechanical and systems integration design of electromechanical products and systems. Extensive travel may be required. Relocation will be provided for the right candidate.

Responsibilities:

-> Planning, organizing, coordinating, managing, and directing the activities of the engineering department to ensure designs are completed to high specifications
-> Manage multiple projects from concept and detail of the design (including scope of works, method statements, risk assessments, technical files, safety legislation/regulatory) through to implementation, testing and hand-over
-> Work in a multi-disciplinary project team, including engineers from other specialties, as well as architects, construction engineers, marketing and sales staff, manufacturers, technicians, suppliers, and customer service personnel
-> Work closely with senior management to develop the overall work plan for the engineering department
-> This position may require extensive travel within the United States and internationally to and from customer locations to provide assistance to the installation team or client during set up, run-in, initial processing and/or repair of the equipment. This travel may be up to three or more weeks per month and may included extended stays for large project or international installations

Requirements:

-> BS or equivalent in Mechanical Engineering or Design and 5 to 7 years of mechanical or machine design experience, including proposal preparation, design, documentation, and production aspects of mechanical engineering
-> A minimum of 5 to 10 years experience in leading a design team within a manufacturing organization or design company requiring planning, design, development, and testing of mechanical and/or electromechanical systems, material handling systems, instruments, controls, tools, and/or machines
-> Able to complete designs in 3D modeling software (SolidWorks, Inventor, ProE) including DFMA experience
-> Medium to advanced skills in Microsoft Office including Access
-> Strong written and oral communication skills necessary to prepare reports
-> Experience negotiating contracts for electrical equipment, design and build systems and fabrication of systems from existing designs
-> Ability to diagnose, troubleshoot, and fix mechanical and electrical problems
-> Good understanding of material handling systems and their design
-> Experience as a project manager in electrical, mechanical, PLC and electro-mechanical systems including the ability to prepare and maintain electronic project schedules
-> Valid drivers license
