PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
Work as a Coatings Engineer / Specialist performing engineering analysis and design of components under the direction of an Engineering Manager as assigned by the Department Manager.  Ensure compliance with the established design rules and procedures within the Engineering Group.  Plan, produce, review and approve (as applicable) specifications and related technical documents covering all materials and corrosion mitigation aspects associated with construction and installation of subsea structures and pipeline systems.  Document analysis and design work in accordance with department work instructions and procedures.  Check calculations performed by others, prepare technical specifications and write technical reports or prepare input for them.  Prepare engineering input to design drawings and coordinate with the Design / Drafting Team in the generation of drawings; Review drawings produced in accordance with company procedures and/or work instructions.  Define and review coating testing procedures and provide support during testing activities as required.  Provide support to onshore and offshore operations as required.  Review QC inspection reports.  Review client generated specifications and related documents pertaining to materials, and corrosion mitigation systems and provide technical qualifications where required in support of project activities.  Review and approve contractor/subcontractor/ vendor procedures relating to coating application and material use.  Ensure the work is executed in accordance with department procedures and project schedules and budgets.  Assist in development of coating design basis for projects. Integrate experience gained from previous projects into the design of new projects. Propose design developments for existing and proposed projects.  Assist to organize and implement a technical library of coatings design information and related publications. Define all quality control requirements and acceptance criteria for related discipline. Liaise with the Project Managers for coatings manufacturing, application, quality control and acceptance criteria. Liaise with the Construction Group for all interfaces between rigid pipe or subsea equipment and construction.  Maintain awareness of recognized industry codes and standards) relevant to corrosion and materials discipline, (eg ISO 8501, DNV RP-401, ISO 12944, EEMUA 194, Norsok, etc.) providing advice and guidance on interpretation and use where appropriate.
 
All personnel are expected to contribute to creating a positive HSEQ culture within Subsea 7 and ensure familiarity with and adherence to local HSEQ codes and practices.
 
EUCATION REQUIRED
Bachelor of Science Degree in Metallurgy, Materials Science or an Engineering discipline or equivalent. Post Graduate qualification in Corrosion Science / Engineering, is desirable; other qualifications may be considered dependent upon experience.
 
EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
Five or more years experience in a Coatings or Corrosion related position.  Basic engineering design and analysis skills.  Working knowledge in coatings engineering analysis techniques.  Working knowledge of the Engineering Group's analysis software and design methodologies.  Working knowledge of coatings drawing practice (both specification and interpretation of content).  Able to function with moderate supervision.  Working knowledge of the current edition of applicable design codes and standards.  Familiarity with offshore construction practices.  Working understanding of subsea equipment, rigid pipeline and field joint coatings and rigid pipeline design including Company design rules and technical notes.
 
LOCATION
Houston, Texas with regular trips to worksites onshore and offshore as appropriate
