Environmental Manager- Corporate Project Team Canada
A major player in the world's mining industry is seeking corporate office-based support for Environmental Management at its various project sites. You will be based in a world-class, family friendly city and positively contribute to a range of internationally visible projects.
You will both oversee and provide hands-on support to each site's Environmental management initiatives to continually improve performance by measuring and reviewing the effectiveness of environmental management systems, and compliance to ISO14001. In turn, you will keep all stakeholders apprised of progress as required.
You will assist in developing strategies to manage challenges and identify opportunities around issues including climate change, water management, biodiversity conservation, sustainability and energy efficiency throughout all project phases: exploration, pre-feasibility, conceptual design, detailed design, procurement, construction, commissioning, operation, decommissioning, closure and disposal.
Requirements
Relevant tertiary education
A minimum of 15 years experience developing, implementing and enforcing Environmental policy & procedure.
The energy, commitment, enthusiasm and education to lead a range of environmental initiatives in developing countries including contractor oversight, the permitting process, risk management, training and both program development and implementation strategies.
The ability to travel when required.
Flexibility and creativity in your approach to problem solving and the willingness to do what it takes to get the job done: you are above all else a team player.
Extensive mining project experience in all project phases.
Ability to communicate in English fluently as a minimum. A second language will be highly regarded.
Proficiency in the art of motivating, directing and influencing diverse teams
Proven organizational skills
Strong technical writing skills
