Description and Desired Qualifications

CH2M HILL Mining Construction Superintendent  - Whitehorse, Canada

The challenge? Help save and protect the one and only earth we have.   Our Construction Superintendents provide oversight in project/program construction activities. You contribute to the organization by providing oversight on the delivery of construction projects (or the construction portion of an EPC project) for the firm's external clients. You are responsible for the delivery of a large construction project. Technical, Financial, Strategic, Team and Client/External Stakeholder Levels of Complexity are typically above average, with some aspects of higher complexity evident. This role has a demonstrated understanding and application of the knowledge and skill (competencies) required of a construction manager; mastery of individual competencies evident in selected technology applications, such as acid rock drainage and tailings management. This position also will assist with constructability reviews and remedial design advice. It will also entail field decisions during times of changing conditions at the site.


Our Construction Superintendents :

• Have demonstrated the capability to oversee a large construction project of above average complexity.
• Acts as one of the company's prime contacts with the client and is responsible for overall construction work progress and technical performance on the project.
• Can conduct constructability reviews of remedial design
• Works with BG/Enterprise construction management and project delivery leadership who provide oversight and mentoring.
• Supports the development of less experienced construction managers through active coaching and mentoring.
• Oversees and reports on the construction project team through site mobilization, execution, and demobilization activities, consistent with established project delivery processes to ensure the orderly, efficient, and timely completion of the project scope in accordance with requirements specified in the contract documents.
• Onsite activities may include construction supervision, field administration, procurement, and field engineering.
• Completes the scope of work to the satisfaction of the client, while simultaneously ensuring that CH2M HILL's HS&E, quality, financial, risk management; business and policy expectations are met.
• Leads or plays a significant role in the business development activities leading to the award of the contract. This typically includes client relationship development, project-specific positioning activities, proposal preparation, orals presentation, and contract negotiation consistent with established business development processes .

Basic Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Construction Management or closely applicable discipline; an additional 4 years of experience may be substituted for degree.
• 15 years experience in oversight of project/program construction activities.
• CCM designation preferred.
• Tailings management construction experience required; knowledge of mining regulations preferred
• Consulting experience preferred.
