Environmental Engineer - Biologist/EIS/Support

Location: Honolulu, HI, USA
A well established Engineering Firm has a temp to perm position located in Honolulu, HI for a Terrestrial Biologist to support to the Navys current in-house resource capability for a large-scale planning, engineering, construction, and base operating support program with the primary mission to deliver infrastructure that will support the US Marines relocation from Okinawa to Guam. Local candidates preferred although client will consider relocation for an ideal match.

Responsibilities:

-> Assist in ensuring that the EIS adequately addresses the natural resources impacts of the proposed action, and resolves issues and conflicting comments on the EIS
-> Work on the DOD-only working group for the Endangered Species Act (ESA) section 7 consultation for the EIS
-> Written in-progress reviews of the EIS focusing on natural resources (e.g. comments and suggestions made to the EIS preparation contractor) completed twice monthly
-> The completion of three versions of comments on the biological assessment revisions

Requirements:

-> Minimum of a MS degree in a natural resources-related discipline
-> Minimum of 3 years ESA experience (NCTC section 7 course/BA writing a plus)
-> 5-10 years field experience in discipline
-> 5-10 years experience in DOD environmental project management desired
-> Experience in Tropical Pacific environments a plus
-> Excellent written and oral communication skills
-> A thorough understanding of all environmental rules and regulations
-> The ability to perform in a lead capacity on a project
