The Coatings R&D Group: The Coatings R&D group produces and tests new and improved solar selective coatings, and supports Manufacturing with the industrialization of these coatings. Job Description: AREVA is seeking a Senior Electrochemist for our Solar location in Mountain View, CA. Responsibilities and duties include:
- Key technical contributor to the research and advanced development of solar selective optical coatings.
- Develop and test wet chemistry-based scalable deposition methods for the various components of solar selective coating stacks.
- Interface with manufacturing to ensure production capability.
- Maintain chemical safety of laboratory environment.
Typical projects:
- Advance the state of the art in air stable solar selective boiler tube coatings.
- Design and test new electrochemical deposition methods, and improve current methods for solar selective coatings.
All candidates must meet the following minimum requirements in order to be considered for this opportunity. Candidates who exceed minimum qualifications may be considered for a higher level position.
- M.S. or PhD. in chemistry, or chemical engineering.
- In-depth knowledge and explicit research experience with electrochemistry.
- Hands-on expertise with electro-deposition of metallic coatings, such as Ni, Cu, Cr, or Sn.
- Experience with analytical chemistry techniques
- Volumetric/gravimetric,
- Spectroscopic,
- Electroanalytic.
The following requirements are desired and will be used to differentiate all candidates who apply for this position.
- 6+ years of research/industrial experience.
- Electrochemical modeling and simulations.
- Experience with industrial-scale wet chemistry-based manufacturing.
- Experience with accelerated stress testing and analysis in order to determine degradation rates and stability of materials.
- Optical spectroscopic measurements, e.g. UV-vis, FTIR,
- Proficient in Matlab.
- Knowledgeable in material science and characterizations (SEM, XPS, TEM, etc.).
- Mechanically inclined.
- Publications or work within the field that demonstrate scientific research and contribution.
