As an integral member of the De Beers Canada, Victor team, you will be responsible for carrying out field inspections of construction and operational activities related to the victor site. This position requires an individual who is highly organized and able to work independently and safely with minimal direction. The ideal candidate will be proficient in “bush skills” including travel in the muskeg environment (winter and summer) and be familiar with operating and repairing snowmobiles, power boats and all-terrain vehicles. The successful candidate will be one who thrives on working in an organization where multi-tasking and multiple priorities are the norm and who possesses a proactive attitude with a strong commitment to achieving results.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
• Conducting monitoring and sampling programs as required by environmental permits, regulations and programs;
• Coaching and maintaining open communications with all workers at the Victor site with respect to environmental protection;
• Carrying out inspections of work sites to investigate and document environmental incidents or accidents;
• Collecting, analyzing, and shipping samples following established site sampling and analytical methods and procedures.
Requirements:
• Diploma or certificate in related field, or equivalent on-the-job training and experience;
• First-hand knowledge of the environment and natural ecology of the James
Bay Lowlands, a valid driver’s license, and a good understanding of the spoken James Bay Cree dialects would be assets.
