 Barrick is a leading international gold mining company with a portfolio of 27 operating mines, seven advanced exploration and development projects located across five continents, and a large land position on the world’s best exploration belts.   Barrick Kanowna has a strong presence in the Eastern-Goldfields of Western Australia centred around the city of Kalgoorlie-Boulder. The operations process 2 million tonnes of refractory and free milling ore per annum from three underground mines. Barrick Kanowna is one of the leading employers in the Goldfields and a large exploration lease in the region.       The Position: Reporting to the Senior Environmental Advisor, this is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Environmental Advisor seeking responsibility, reward and career development.  We are looking for a self-starting, dedicated team player who will make a positive contribution to our operation. The Environmental Advisor is responsible for developing, promoting and reporting on environmental initiatives and awareness through a team-based approach.  Other duties include but are not limited to:  

• Provide advice on effective environmental management in regional areas
• Implement, develop and maintain environmental management systems and processes
• Monitoring, interpretation and reporting of environmental data
• Routine reporting, inspections and data collation
• Development of procedures and training programs
• Supervising environmental contractors
• Coordinating environmental project work

  The Person: You will have tertiary qualifications in Environmental Science or equivalent plus 1 to 2 years relevant industrial experience. A working knowledge of Mining Environment Legislation will be well regarded as well as your computer literacy including proficiency in the Microsoft office products, and exposure to GIS. Excellent written and verbal communication skills as well as an Occupational First Aid Certificate, or able to work towards qualification, is desirable.       This position is based in Kalgoorlie-Boulder in the heart of the Western Australia Goldfields.  With a population of 35,000, Kalgoorlie-Boulder is a prosperous centre with modern amenities including first-class sporting facilities, excellent schools and good shopping.
