Reporting to the Superintendent of Human Resources, the Safety Supervisor develops and directs training programs and promotes safety throughout the mine by developing and administering ongoing safety and loss control programs that meet all company and government standards and regulations.
The ideal candidate will have post secondary education and five or more years experience managing safety programs in an open pit mine and milling environment
Excellent leadership and interpersonal skills, in order to maintain close liaison with management, staff, union personnel and government regulatory agencies
Knowledgeable of Health, Safety and Reclamation Code for Mines in BC, safety regulations and accident prevention systems
Strong organization and time mangement skills with the ability to multi-task, prioritize a heavy workload with attention to detail and accuracy
Excellent oral and written presentation skills
Computer proficiency in Excel and Word
This position will work a 4x3 schedule (Monday through Thursday). Flights are provided from Vancouver, Kelowna, Kamloops, Williams Lake, Smithers, and Prince George.
