MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

Education: MS or PhD in Chemistry or Materials Science.

Experience: 10 years of experience in CO2 and /or carbon chemistry. Good track of publication and innovation.

Comprehension of wide ranging business motivations associated with carbon management. Demonstrate ability to develop research and development activity based upon pre-defined objectives. Familiarity with working with and managing universities and third party research programs. Evident Interpersonal and clear communication skills. Strong knowledge of carbon products with high growth in demand. Experiences and publications in the following topic areas are highly desired. Conversion of carbon dioxide to fuels through direct hydrogenation and indirect hydrogenation to fuels. Electrochemical and photochemical reduction of CO2 either by heterogeneous or homogeneous catalysis. Carbon dioxide in organic synthesis such as urea, salicyclic acid, cyclic organic carbonates. Incorporation of CO2 into polymers, polycarbonates, polypyrones, lactone intermediates, rubbers and polyurethanes. Use of carbon dioxide as a solvent in food and pharmaceutical processing to defray future liability costs. Production of pharmaceutical products. Development of high performance carbon composites based upon nanoparticles. Injection, polymerizations, emulsion of polymerization of water-soluble monomers. Incumbent will have achieved substantial industry recognition in area of expertise. Normally will have published in significant technical journals and will have a history of active participation in technical society activities.

DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

Saudi Aramco Research & Development Center is establishing an ambitious research program in the area of CO2 capture, in particular, in CO2 utilization. R&D Center is seeking an experienced chemist to support research activity that targets the development of products and industrial applications for CO2 captured from the emissions products of hydrocarbon combustion. With business expectations to create new carbon disposition options and product markets with the potential to use large quantities of CO2.

The candidate s contribution to the team will be in developing an improved understanding of carbon chemistry and reactions, product synthesis of compounds from CO2, and formulation of materials and compounds that contain high volumes of carbon. Research activity will be to investigate new reaction routes to establish new uses of CO2. The candidate will support CO2 capture and sequestration work conducted by other carbon management team members. The candidate will be exposed to materials engineering, electrochemistry, catalysis and reaction modeling and experimentation and be expected to demonstrate familiarity with these topics.
