Currently with an immediate requirement for Geologist you will;
work in a cross-functional team environment with other Geoscientists and Engineers on field extension and infill drilling in clastic and carbonate reservoirs. Working in these mature West Texas and New Mexico fields will require strong petrophysical skills to assess behind pipe opportunities, defining completion intervals and the ability to construct reservoir descriptions & models.
Job descriptionThis position will potentially be involved in primary oil, primary gas, secondary and CO2 floods. Subsequent integration of the geologic and engineering work will be used by the team to recommend programs for infill and step-out drilling, pattern conversions and conformance work. Specific responsibilities include: Prospecting, near field extension and production geology support for active development drilling programs and reservoir characterization projects for classical production surveillance. Travel required is less than 10%.
Requirements1. BS in geology with a good understanding of both clastic and carbonate deposition and diagenesis.
2. Proficient in geoscience workstation tools, preferably Landmark for mapping and cross section studies.
3. Log interpretation skills with the ability to integrate hundreds of wells into a stratigraphic interpretation quickly and efficiently.
4. Outcrop and core interpretation skills for lithofacies interpretation with ability to integrate with petrophysical data..
5. Ability to integrate 2d and 3d seismic interpretation data into geologic models.
6. Ability to calculate OOIP volumetrics by use of multi vintage petrophysical and production datasets.
7. Experience in development of onshore oil and gas fields, preferably domestic.
8. Experience in generating prospect evaluations and well proposals.
9. Time management skills to personally plan work and execute large studies – meeting goals within time constraints.
10. Ability to make technically and economically sound recommendations with incomplete information.
11. Larger field reservoir characterization with modern computer software approaches.
12. Excellent interpersonal and teamwork skills. Experience working in a cross-functional team environment.
1. Production geology experience (especially in the Permian Basin).
2. Understanding of seismic data
3. Experience with geostatistical reservoir modeling software & techniques (e.g., Petrel, RC2, GoCad, Beicip, RC2, IRAP/RMS, GSLIB etc.)
4. Software skills: Landmark’s OpenWorks, StratWorks, SeisWorks and GeoGraphix,
5. Experienced building 3D reservoir models by correlating well data into flow units.
6. CO2 Flood or Waterflood Experience
7. Economic analysis utilizing spreadsheet models or industry standard applications (e.g. Aries, PEEP)
