In the heart of North Queensland, Townsville boasts many attractions that include the world's largest living coral reef aquarium, a wildlife sanctuary, a casino, beaches, museums, theatres and restaurants. To the South West, Charters Towers is a scenic gold mining town with a population of over 8,000 residents, which is big on history and even bigger on character.

Located to the east of Charters Towers and south of Townsville, this open-cut gold mine operates on a 5/2 roster. They are currently recruiting for a Drill and Blast Engineer to assist in the production of the mine.

This role offers an enormous scope for an open cut Drill and Blast Engineer with a hands-on attitude to develop their career, and offers the variety of planning, design, and operations. Key responsibilities will include:

Technical Blasting operations in an open cut environment
Drill and Blast Design and Quality Assurance
Short and Medium term planning
Upgrade of cost reporting systems and database
Ensuring that mine operations are carried out safely

You will be a degree qualified Mining Engineer, preferably with experience in hard-rock open-cut Drill and Blast. Knowledge of common database packages and familiarity with MineSight is desirable.
