REPORTS TO: Engineering Manager
LOCATION: San Miguel Lignite Mine –
The North American Coal Corporation
SUMMARY: Primarily responsible for long-term mine planning. Also, will provide technical support in short-term planning.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES DEPENDING UPON EXPERIENCE:
1. Prepare pit designs and equipment scheduling to maximize efficiency.
2. Lignite loading and hauling planning and scheduling to optimize efficiency while meeting the quality requirements of our customer.
3. Assist in preparation of long term plans and annual work plans, including monthly updates.
4. Participate in meetings with our Customer related to mine plans and process optimization.
5. Prepare economic analyses and make recommendations.
6. Prepare and compile results for production reports.
7. Prepare specifications and evaluate bids for equipment and services.
8. Assist in preparation of permit applications, permit revisions and meetings with the Railroad Commission of Texas.
9. Assist and coordinate with Contractors and our Customer permit applications and permit revisions as needed.
OTHER DUTIES:
1. Conduct tours of the mine site for customers and the public.
2. Performs other duties as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
1. Knowledge of surface mine engineering principles.
2. Knowledge of safety and environmental regulations.
3. Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, AutoCad and SurvCadd.
4. Ability to effectively communicate technical information verbally and written.
5. Strong planning, analytical and problem solving skills.
6. Good leadership and interpersonal skills.
EDUCATION:
Requires a degree in Mining or Civil Engineering, or a related discipline or equivalent experience.
