A key responsibility of the Assistant Maintenance Superintendent is to assume the responsibilities of managing the maintenance department in the absence of the maintenance superintendent.
In the acting role, the incumbent will be responsible for the overall management of the maintenance department from primary crusher through to the filter plant and concentrate loading facilities as well as outlying areas such as the well fields and tailings disposal system. The assistant superintendent will be responsible for a workforce of approximately 150 employees, excluding contractors, distributed in the following areas:
• Primary Crusher and coarse ore stockpile
• Sag and Ball Mill area
• Flotation area, including concentrate regrinds thickening and reagent areas.
• Concentrate handling including filtration and loading plus outstations.
The acting maintenance superintendent will be responsible for the day to day management of the maintenance effort, and for ensuring the support sections of planning, engineering and training, support the maintenance effort in an appropriate manner.
When not acting for the maintenance superintendent, the Assistant Superintendent may be required to manage the planning section, and will assume responsibility for coordinating various projects and activities critical to the maintenance department, in terms of safety, plant availability, and maintenance procedures.
Experience and Qualifications Required:
• Previous experience as maintenance superintendent in a base metal mineral process plant.
• Formal trades qualifications in a mechanical or electrical discipline, or an engineering degree.
• Minimum 15 years Mining Industry experience, including at least 5yrs in a supervisory or management position in a maintenance role.
• Experience as a maintenance planner, senior planner, or maintenance engineer would be highly regarded.
Experience desired:
• Previous experience in remote mine sites in South America, Africa, Central Asia, Asia etc.
• Prior experience in the management of contractors.
• Formal maintenance management or planning qualifications.
• Previous experience of computerized maintenance management systems such as SAP, JDE or Ellipse
• Previous experience as a maintenance general foreman or similar in a mineral process plant.
• Spanish speaking proficiency or willingness to learn
