Our Client operates one of the largest manganese mines in the world, with customers in China, Japan, South Korea, USA, India and Mexico.
They are seeking an experienced Team leader to project manage capital projects from concept to completion. Your background will be in effectively managing large capital projects
Reporting to the Business Excellence Manager, you will be primarily responsible for management of projects from concept to completion within time and cost constraints, management of engineering project systems and engineering contracts (mechanical, civil, electrical).
Your area of expertise will be in establishing the necessary systems, framework and controls to facilitate the planned delivery of measurable improvements by applying the Business Excellence methodology.
Duties are focussed upon sourcing, safe and effective management of contract based engineering services and collaborative improvement projects. From conceptual and feasibility studies through to detailed design, construction and commissioning. Engineering input on capital and major maintenance projects and responsibility for ensuring engineering design and installation satisfies relevant standards.
Providing leadership, coaching, mentoring and support to all levels of the organisation, this role is critical to achieving increased Business Excellence awareness across the mine site. You will lead a small team of Six Sigma Black Belt Coaches and Contract Engineers / Draftsman to manage projects resulting in measurable and sustainable business improvements in accordance with time and budget constraints.
Qualifications, skills and experience:
• Qualified Project Manager (PM101 & PM201) and / or Accredited Engineer;
• Tertiary qualified in a business or technical discipline; or an equivalent combination of experience and education; proficient with statistical analysis
• Six Sigma Black Belt experience advantageous
• Strong leadership ability, drive and proven success in leading project teams to achieve success
• Minimum10 years professional / technical experience, heavy industry experience desirable
• Track record of success in implementing change,
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with people from a variety of different backgrounds
• Sound financial knowledge, cost control and procurement expertise
