To be considered for this pivotal role with our Client you will need to demonstrate a proven ability & understanding of planning operations associated with all project phases of management, engineering design, procurement, quality assurance and quality control, manufacture, expediting, shipping, site establishment, site construction, testing and commissioning for the successful delivery of a suite of programmes of projects & major multi-disciplined EPCM projects. The positions will report directly to the Project Controls Manager & Project Managers
The key responsibilities of the Principal Planner are as follows:
• Provide Management, project team & clients with clear, timely and accurate information relating to schedule and resourcing issues.
• Manage & provide analysis of schedule trend information in accordance with project procedures.
• Confirm project health or concerns to the management team and make recommendations to functional managers of any intervention required to improve efficiency and performance.
• Be responsive to client concerns.
• Support project progress reporting function both internally & externally.
• Work closely with other project controls personnel to ensure an integrated approach is maintained.
• Develop Integrated Resource-Loaded Project Schedules for engineering projects incorporating work flows.
• Develop and implement the Work Breakdown Structure to track and control against the baseline estimate & Project Activity Code Structures to provide suitable custom layouts of the project schedule.
• Identify and analyse variances in schedule performance against the baseline plan.
• Communicate the reasons for schedule variances & propose work-around plans to Project Management.
• Understand earned value management & its applicability to measure performance.
• Identify & track changes in conjunction with project controls team & management.
• Guide others on the implementation of corporate planning procedures.
• Be a functional expert in the use of Primavera planning products.
• Co-ordinate with others in the ongoing enhancement of project controls software tools.
Essential requirements:
* Tertiary education acceptable to the Engineers Australia for full membership as a Professional Engineer
* Well developed people management skills
* Well developed planning & organisation skills
* Good understanding of heavy engineering construction principles & mining infrastructure works
* Extensive experience with Primavera scheduling products, particularly P5
* Fully conversant in MS Project scheduling software
* Good general IT skills with data manipulation
* Able to produce management reports in addition to detail planning information
* Occupational Health & Safety
* Project Management principles
* Minimum ten years experience in program / project controls work including scheduling, reporting or equivalent experience
