Lead Drilling Engineer required for major operator in Angola to start ASAP.

Background;
Working at the front-end design and contract award phase, this is an exciting opportunity to work on subsea development projects in ultra deepwater (c.2000m). You will lead the Drilling Engineering work programme through project sanction and drive the preparations for the operations phase of the PSVM project, offshore Angola. The PSVM development is the first of four subsea projects in the Angola Programme, with around 120 wells planned in total for the four projects.
This role will be based in the Greater London area, UK and will transfer with the Wells Team to Luanda for operations in 2009. The option exists to remain London based to support subsequent projects although the preference is for the post holder to transfer to Luanda.

Roles and Responsibilities;
- To deliver the drilling engineering and operations planning work programme for the Angola PSVM ultra deepwater subsea development project through sanction, operations preparation and well delivery
- Delivery of all aspects of detailed drilling engineering for the PSVM project
- Co-ordination with subsequent projects to ensure standardisation is maintained between projects
- Co-ordination and maintenance of the drilling elements of the Wells Basis of Design (BoD) and the detailed Drilling BoD's
- Assure alignment with policy, integration of learnings and best practice, and benchmarking data
- Preparation of drilling site technical practices (STP's) where deviations from engineering technical practices are required
- Co-ordination of in-house technical support and external drilling technical support and research and development
- PSVM drilling services invitations to tender, tender evaluation and recommendations
- Single point of contact with subsurface team for all well planning issues
- Interface with subsea team for all well planning issues
- Interface with in-house geotechnical network for drilling issues
- Maintenance of the Angola business unit drilling technology plan

Essential Criteria;
- Engineering Degree
- You will have extensive experience in subsea developments in remote areas and sound knowledge of state-of-the-art directional drilling techniques, borehole stability analysis, deepwater well planning and a thorough knowledge of typical well planning and approval processes
- Excellent inter-personal skills and a willingness to work with multi-discipline teams to deliver the optimal solutions for the projects
