John T. Boyd Company is evaluating candidates for potential employment at our offices in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania
John T. Boyd Company is a Mining and Geological Consulting firm with offices in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania; Denver, Colorado; Beijing (China); and Brisbane (Australia).
We are seeking a Mineral Market Analyst concentrating on the analysis of coal, energy, metals and industrial minerals markets. The candidate must possess in-depth industry experience working on both the producer and consumer sides of the energy business.
Responsibilities:
Direct and assist staff with research and analysis of domestic and international coal, metal and industrial minerals markets.
Develop and maintain research methodology that will generate data to improve ongoing energy models.
Utilize experience and knowledge of domestic and international coal markets, as well as steel and coke industries, to develop thermal and metallurgical supply and demand balances, trend analyses, market forecast, and producer analyses.
Undertake and assist staff in the preparation of reports, summaries and graphics of analyses.
Undertake and assist staff with project work tasks related to fuel procurement strategies, business valuation, litigation support as well as other dynamic project requirements.
Qualifications:
An undergraduate in an analytical discipline such as engineering, economics or finance is required, as well as 5 years plus experience in the coal and/or minerals industry with extensive concentration in domestic US market.
Experience in the transportation of commodities and the development of transportation rate structures is preferred.
The ability to develop a detailed analysis and then convert to a concise summary both in writing and verbal is critical.
A demonstrated ability to manage and maintain multiple ongoing projects is critical.
Strong proficiency in Excel, Word, PowerPoint; experience with Access is preferred.
