Rio Tinto Minerals (RTM) is seeking a Mine Supervisor based in Boron, California. The position is located on-site at Boron Operations in the Operations department. This location offers a wide variety of places to have your home. Only two hours from Los Angeles, the beach and ski slopes, you can choose from big city convenience to country lifestyle. The Mine Operations Supervisor is accountable to ensure that mine personnel and mining equipment are utilized in a safe manner during mine operations, to maintain high levels of productivity of mine equipment and facilities, and to insure that ore is delivered to the Refinery Processing and Hydration facilities sufficient to meet quantity and quality needs.
Role Responsibilities:
Ensure that all work undertaken by mine personnel is performed in a safe manner.
Ensure high levels of productivity of mining equipment, including crushers, and other facilities.
Manage delays, operator breaks, lunches, fueling times.
Manage production and productivity to ensure that the operation meets or exceeds budget.
Manage equipment operating costs.
Instigate programs to achieve cost reductions through improved manpower utilization to insure high levels of productivity.
Manage and schedule overtime.
Manage contractors and vendors.
Education/Experience/Skill Requirements:
Technical or process related degree with two years related process experience or high school diploma and minimum of four years related plant knowledge.
3 years experience in mining and related industry.
Ability to lead teams
Ability to plan/manage work in a dynamic work environment
Strong interpersonal and leadership ability
Hands on computer experience with modular mining dispatching
Strong communications skills
Negotiation skills
