QualificationsRelated engineering degree.
Technical background with detailed experience in SAGD Reservoir engineering, Production engineering and Geology.
Hands-on SAGD operating experience.
Strong technical and leadership skills.
Experience with multi-disciplinary teams including facilities design and regulatory and stakeholder relations.
ResponsibilitiesCoordination and leadership to engineering, geology and geophysics team in support of Kirby 10,000 boepd SAGD project development.
Execute the Kirby project using the best available technology.
Create plan for the long term development of an additional 20,000 boepd SAGD project on the Kirby site, with demonstrated progressive learning from the initial 10,000 boepd project.
Manage technical aspects of winter programs, SAGD well planning and design and pad placement.
Coordinate all geo-modeling and reservoir simulation efforts to develop project production forecasts.
Provide support to EPCM and regulatory teams to ensure all reservoir assumptions are incorporated into overall project design.
OpportunityThe company is currently launching into a new chapter in our oil sands business as we advance our own operated SAGD project at Kirby. Collectively Kirby and our existing oil sands activities represent an exciting growth prospect complementary to the company's current business activities. To support our oil sands portfolio, we are launching a significant recruitment effort and looking for motivated individuals in a variety of positions to join our oil sands team.
This is a full-time position located in our Calgary office in the Oil Sands Business Unit and reports directly to the VP, Oil Sands.
Working closely with multiple disciplines including; engineering, geology and geophysics, the Manager, Subsurface Technical will be responsible for coordinating a team to support Oil Sands project development.
