U/G Operations Manager (FP2754) Latin America
Our client, a well established international owner miner, requires an experienced Operations Manager to act as the 2IC for one of its Latin America underground mining & milling operations.
You are an effective Operations Manager and/or Assistant General Manager who takes full ownership of a mining & milling operation, particularly the mining side.
You are driven to overcome the technical complexities and challenges of underground mining as well as milling, while maintaining the necessary safeguards along with the success.
Reporting to the General Manager, You Will:
Be the second most senior employee on site
Oversee the underground mining & milling, having the Mining, Milling, Geology & Maintenance Department Managers as your direct reports
Reach earthmoving targets and ongoing milling operations/recoveries within approved schedules and budgets
Manage the expenditure of operating and capital budgets, ensuring efficient and cost-effective operation
Play an important role in community communications and relations
Promote a culture of awareness and commitment to safe working practices amongst all employees, which will enable a healthy and accident-free working environment
Be Relief General Manager in the absence of the General Manager
You Possess:
Solid Mining background
Bachelor degree in mine engineering or equivalent discipline
Strong u/g mining expertise
Extensive production engineering, mine engineering & mine design experience
You have come up through the mining production ranks (ideal, but not essential)
>10 years management experience:
Strong in leadership
Your prior experience overseeing certain or all facets of general management (e.g. HR, Administration, Accounting & Finance, Materials Management, Health & Safety, Training, etc.) can augment your responsibilities within this role
>3 years overseeing both mining & milling activities at operations management level
Reasonable mill production & mill engineering abilities
Proven track record in meeting performance targets in both the mine & mill
Excellent safety track record, interpersonal skills, and business operating sense
Proven community relations track record would be highly advantageous, but not essential
An ability to communicate in Spanish or French is highly advantageous, but not essential
Prior work experience in Latin America or similarly challenging environments
