Permanent position in Nkomati in South Africa (Mpumalanga).
Mine is a rapidly growing Open Pit and Underground Chrome and Base Metal operation located between the city of Nelspruit and the towns of Barberton, Badplaas and Waterval-Boven in the stunningly beautiful Mpumalanga region of South Africa. The region, well known for its high quality of life and numerous tourist attractions, is a haven for trout fishing and wildlife reserves. Mine is currently exploiting an disseminated nickel, copper, and platinum group metal deposit associated with a satellite intrusion of the Bushveld Igneous Complex. The mine is currently undergoing a major expansion and will become one of the largest open pit operations in Southern Africa with a life of mine in excess of 20 years. Mine is looking for highly educated, motivated and dedicated individuals who would like to be part of this exciting project and would look forward to growing and developing with the mine.
Mine is currently looking for a
Geologist
The successful incumbents will report to the Superintendent: Geology and will be part of a motivated, multi-skilled team.
Although not limited to, the incumbent’s main responsibilities will include:
• Control an underground grade control programme;
• Manage diamond drilling programmes;
• Underground mapping;
• Borehole logging;
• Assisting with mine planning;
• Geological modeling and construction of grade models;
• Exploration for new ore bodies.
The following qualifications are essential:
• NHD or B.Sc. Honors degree in Geology;
• A Valid Driver’s license;
• Computer Literacy (Sable and Data Mine would be advantageous).
The ideal candidate should have good communication skills, the ability to be assertive in a competitive environment, a strong desire to learn new skills, be able to work independently as well as part of a team and enjoy high stress production environments.
The flexible salary package will be commensurate with qualifications and experience and a full range of normal fringe benefits applies.
