Senior Development Engineer - Aluminium Reduction Cell International
A rapidly growing force in the aluminium world with solid financing and operating bench strength is seeking a development engineer for its aluminium reduction cell technology.
Reporting to the Technology Engineering Manager the goal of the Senior Development Engineer role is the execution and engineering of improvements to the proprietary reduction cell technology, especially with regards to reducing the capital cost without compromising the quality or operating efficiency. This will be accomplished by a candidate who shows initiative and drive to devise, design, and implement projects, experiments and trials to develop and enhance the company's technology.
Responsibilities include:
Support the Department and Engineering Teams
Engineer solutions to improve and optimise the technology. Monitor, observe and analyse areas of existing Technology. Formulate, evaluate and implement alternative solutions to save cost, improve quality or improve performance.
Design and develop prototype plant and equipment.
Provide technical assistance to License holders or customers.
Evaluate new ideas suggested by Licensees for implementation by all Licensees
Assist with Technical Package preparation or maintenance.
Perform due diligence on acquisition targets for process.
Supervise, direct and monitor the work of engineering contractors to ensure that health, safety, environmental, and quality standards are maintained in order to meet or exceed company policy requirements in these areas,
Become a specialist in at least one area of Reduction Technology Engineering. Ex. potshell, superstructure, ventilation, building design, etc.
Work within multi-disciplinary project teams in the planning, implementation and delivery of projects of low to medium value, complexity, or risk profile, to meet defined time, cost and quality standards.
Act as a support engineer on other projects, collaborating with other members of the project team to produce project results which meet or exceed stakeholder expectations.
Support the company‘s continuous improvement initiatives to ensure that these are implemented in accordance with sound engineering principles.
Qualifications:
A recognised university degree in engineering science or equivalent.
Very experienced professional engineer with experience working in senior project engineering, R&D engineering and technical supervisory and management positions gained within the aluminium industry (preferably in reduction technology).
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Extremely computer literate preferably with specialist program knowledge
Must show initiative and drive to devise, design, and implement projects
Good problem solving and analytical skills
Ability to manage contractors in the execution of the work in regards to budget, quality, and time.
Contract conditions negotiable for the right candidate.
