Greenfields Construction & Operation
A junior gold producer in Africa, is commencing work on its flagship project. They have an immediate requirement for an Engineering Manager who will be accountable for the efficient and effective management of engineering activities for this remote mine which is expected to be in production in 2012.
Responsibilities
Report directly to the Site General Manager
Oversee all plant and mobile equipment maintenance with all electrical, mechanical and civil sections reporting into the engineering manager
Ensure the development of safe work practices and safety awareness of the local workforce whilst achieving targeted output
Management and technical strategy setting for the engineering and maintenance for the site
Work closely with the Mining and Process Managers to provide them with the engineering personnel and services they desire but will retain ultimate control of maintenance staff.
Oversee technical and supervisory development of the local workforce through structured and staged improvement plans
Development and optimisation of preventative maintenance processes for all site equipment, mechanical, electrical control, fixed and mobile equipment
Management of various surface workshops and services supporting the site activities
Ensuring seamless and clear interaction with all site departments to achieve optimal equipment availability and utilisation of equipment
Participate in the specification, purchase and installation of new machinery and equipment
Qualifications
Engineering degree
10 years of mining industry experience with progressively more senior roles experience
Excellent management and communication skills
Previous experience in developing countries, especially Africa, will be essential
Gold and base metal processing experience will be an advantage
Single status with an attractive US$ expatriate compensation package is offered, along with a very competitive FIFO schedule.
