Our client, one of the world's leading suppliers of Iron Ore, is looking for a motivated individual to join their team as a mechanical engineer.
Based in Western Australia, our client operates several mining operations, port facilities, on-site processing plants and railway and is going from strength to strength.
Position Description
Our client is seeking a self motivated and energetic professional, with proven analytical skills, to provide technical support, advice and solutions in their Rail Workshop. You will also assist with resolving safety issues and producing relevant maintenance action plans. Our client is committed to nurturing your talent as you focus your demonstrated problem solving expertise on enhancing rolling stock and workshop equipment reliability, and reviewing and improving operating and maintenance procedures, thereby actively contributing to achieving long-term, measurable improvements in performance and efficiency.
Operating in a climate of continuous improvement, and with an eye on quality targets and environmental standards, your key duties will include:
Preparing technical specifications, drawings and scope-of-work for capital equipment purchase and major equipment refurbishment;
Playing an active role in the installation, commissioning and performance testing of various projects; and
Ensuring all engineering projects comply with statutory and internal safety standards.
Skills and Experience
You will have a tertiary Engineering qualification, with practical experience in mining, preferably in rail or a heavy haul environment. Contract management experience in the maintenance arena will be well regarded. Exposure to SAP will enhance your suitability. Rail experience would also be beneficial but is not essential. Suitably qualified graduates with two or more years are encouraged to apply.
Your technical strengths will be supplemented by effective communication and interpersonal skills, facilitating your efforts to build constructive relationships with key stakeholders. Experience in the conception, financial modelling and development of major capital projects will be advantageous.
Location
This is a residential role, so the successful applicant must be residing, or willing to relocate, to WA. In return you will look forward to an attractive salary package, including subsidised housing, incentive bonuses, generous long service provisions, and annual leave travel assistance.
