Teck Cominco Metals Limited has an immediate requirement for a Metal Sales Administrator in its downtown Toronto Sales and Marketing office.
Reporting to the Sales Manager, and working within a small marketing and sales group, you will be responsible for arranging the efficient and economic delivery of Teck Cominco metal product sales worldwide, from order-taking, sourcing and booking material, ensuring accurate customs and shipping documentation, and invoicing through to final delivery of product to customer site.
The successful candidate will possess:
Strong customer-service skills
Excellent communications skills
Organizational and priority management skills
Knowledge of transportation systems
Accuracy and detail orientation
2-3 years prior experience in a similar position
Ability to work within deadlines
This position will require knowledge of SOX, ISO and customs and transportation systems, letters of credit and use of SAP, prior work experience in these skills would be a definite asset as would prior working experience within a metal sales or other commodities industry.
As a key customer and supplier contact, must be able to maintain good long-term customer relations by understanding customers needs and supplier issues and how TCML's products, services and processes affect those needs; comprehension of technical and legal terms in letters of credit, shipping documents, purchase orders and sales contracts.
Specific Accountabilities:
Coordinate metal shipments from plant and other points of origin to the customer as effectively, efficiently and economically as possible by booking, order taking, scheduling, expediting and invoicing all core and specialty metal product shipments
Provide superior consistent customer service while maintaining strict control of distribution expenses to maximize TCML's returns; deliver a quality product on time, every time; ensure customer documentation is complete and accurate; maintain records of schedules and keep all parties informed of shipment movements
As a key customer contact, maintain good long-term customer relations by understanding and servicing customer needs
Work effectively in a team environment:
Work with the transportation group to insure timely delivery of our products in a cost effective manner
Work with the smelters to schedule orders in an efficient and economical manner while meeting our customer commitment
Find effective solutions to problems that may impede customer deliveries, paperwork and account issues
Apply TCML's sales policies and procedures and assist in establishing them
Partner with IS, accounting and management to match our business processes to TCML's various system applications (eg: understand impact of actions on business processes).
