Permanent management level position in the Mining sector in South Africa (Gauteng).
Our client is looking for a candidate who has a minimum of 5 years experience in the Mining engineering sector.
Essential requirements:
MUST have either BSc Eng (Mining), BEng (Mining), B Tech (Mining) or NHD (Mining) with Mine Manager’s certificate.
MUST have professional registration or eligibility.
MUST have a good understanding of mining methods, geology, survey, ventilation, rock engineering, project management
Key Tasks and Responsibilities:
Project Management:
o Liaise and co-ordinate with the client, project manager and engineers of other disciplines to ensure adherence to project and client requirements and specifications o Manage the schedule (time), cost, quality and scope on all Mining contracts on the project o Manage the Mining Site Supervisors to ensure that Mining contractors perform to project safety, environmental and quality requirements o Effectively utilize company resources o Accurately mark up designs for drafting personnel o Ensure Quality standards adhered to by checking accuracy of work before it gets issued o Advise, monitor and control all Mining site staff and contractors on behalf of the Site Project Manager o Assure the client and project manager that the design, erection, testing and commissioning of a Mining installation, under his charge, complies with all safety and statutory requirements o Act within the framework of Mining contracts under his/her management o Manage high level of risks within project in regard to engineering processes, systems, equipment and infrastructure
Mining Design and Drafting:
o Manage internal design and drafting resources via Mining Section Leaders o Manage the Mining design team to ensure that Mining designs are carried out in accordance with client standards and specification documentation, industry norms and the relevant legislation o Ensure the effective review and approval of Mining design and engineering o Develop improved work practices and ensure familiarity with new mining technologies o Undertake techno-economic investigations o Provide mining inputs for mining feasibility studies
