BHP Billiton produces copper, uranium, gold and silver from its Olympic Dam mining and processing operation located near Roxby Downs, South Australia. The operation is a long-life asset with a very significant mineral resource base - being the world-s fourth-largest known copper resource, the fourth-largest known gold resource and the largest known uranium deposit. The expansion project, currently in its Pre-Feasibility stage, aims to significantly increase production from the deposit in the safest and most efficient manner.

Positions will be based in Adelaide, where you and your family can enjoy a relaxed and easygoing lifestyle. Position Synopsis
Take responsibility for leading and managing the development and evaluation of material handling design options relating to the crushing and conveying of both overburden and ore material, in conjunction with the Pre Mine and Pre Strip operations. Select and lead the execution of the preferred option based on sustainability, cost, risk, environmental compatibility and schedule.

Involved in validation of the tendering and selection of appropriate consultants to undertake material handling design work, you will ensure consultants selected are appropriately skilled to provide services within project scope, schedule and budget. Liaise with peers within Mine Development to ensure timely execution of all aspects of the ODX pre-strip component and ensure the mine materials handling system is fully integrated with both existing and proposed mine infrastructure and processing area.

Additionally you will Lead and develop a Zero Harm culture to ensure Zero Harm Principles are incorporated into all infrastructure design options, and that Environmental issues have been addressed and solutions consistent with BHP Billiton Sustainability principles are incorporated into the material handling execution strategy. You will also work with the Health & Safety Manager to ensure HSEC Management Standards and Fatal Risk Control Protocols (FRCP) are an integral part of the material handling work.

Skills and Experience
Tertiary qualified in mechanical engineering, mining or other related discipline, you will have extensive experience in the design of, and / or general exposure to hard rock material handling. Specialist knowledge of material handling systems and components is a requirement, as is knowledge of large hard rock, waste mining material handling technology and advances.

In addition, you will have demonstrated experience working in the mining or construction industry, working on large multi-disciplinary projects and extensive experience managing consultants and leading a team.
