Job Summary:
To work as part of small team providing petrophysical technical support to the geoscientists working in Exploration and Operations groups
Key skills/duties:
Scanning and digitising of logs using Neuralog.
QC of log curves for loading to Finder, Geolog and GeoFrame databases. This should involve a thorough QC of log curves using, where available, original wireline prints.
Compositing of a standard log curve suite, comprising of spliced data only (free from environmental corrections).
Petrophysical edit of sonic and density data as a precursor in geophysical synthetic generation.
Loading of checkshot, deviations, marker and header information to Geolog, GeoFrame, Finder, Petrel and ODM databases.
Familiarity in SQL.
Competent in UNIX and LINUX environments.
Competent Geolog user.
Data transfer through liaising with partners and 3rd party companies.
Liaise with Petrophysical community to ensure that databases are kept up to date with final log sets from recently drilled wells.
Liaise with Data Management and Geological Operations to ensure that G&G user drives are up to date with reports and images from recent wells.
Qualifications:
Requirements:
Knowledge of historical and modern tools and of log mnemonics is essential.
Experience of waveform processing/editing of DSI/XMAC and other modern shear wave tools an advantage.
Familiarity with RFT, DST, mud logs, and cased hole logging an advantage.
Familiarity with dipmeter and image log/processing an advantage.
Experience:
Appropriate oil industry experience.
Qualifications:
Equivalent of at least ordinary degree standard in Earth Science, preferaby also with a Maths and/or Physics component.

To G&G Team Leader for day-to-day supervision, career development and guidance
