Job descriptionThe principal role is to provide high quality support to clients Assets and JVs to exploit the opportunities of supply chain expenditure to expand local enterprises and develop local infrastructure.
Key areas of responsibility include:
Specialist Support for Competitive Differentiation on Local Content
• Benchmarking Local Content differentiation strategies across Group and key competitors
• Lead and/or assist all assets/JVs undertake market surveys to identify spend categories offering local supplier high-growth potential (including E&P spend forecasts in-country to identify high-potential markets)
• Support targeted high-potential suppliers to develop ‘bankable’ business expansion plans for domestic and international markets
• Assist assets/JVs and 1st tier contractors to develop business incubation plans that grow and then launch new local supplier enterprises
• Assist assets/JVs to develop pre-investment or on-project investment strategies to support dual purpose infrastructure (private-cum-public good)
• Develop long-term relationships with providers of risk capital for SMEs relevant to country assets/JVs, eg public risk finance funds, Development Finance Institutions, private equity funds
• Mentoring/training of asset/JV dedicated supplier business development staff and consultancy teams
• Advice and peer review support to assets/JVs in preparing ToRs and reviewing quality of reports from supplier development consultancies
Experience Needed
• Prior practical experience of business development with small and medium scale (SME) suppliers of engineering and manufacturing services, preferably within E&P oil and gas supply chain, including o market forecasting o financial structuring/re-structuring for business expansion o organisational change management o strategic marketing
• Direct experience in negotiation of contracting and procurement agreements with suppliers and sub-contractors
RequirementsMinimum requirement degree. MBA or equivalent desirable. Other relevant education: corporate finance, micro-economics
• Good knowledge of financing and contracting options for infrastructure development/rehabilitation, including limited-resource project finance, different PPP models, performance-based contracts
• Sound knowledge of the oil and gas industry and supply chain
• Ability to relate to executives of SMEs and investment officers in financial institutions
• Demonstrated commitment to and understanding of Local Content development in developing countries
• Excellent presentation and communications skills
• Self motivated and hard working
• Able to work with minimal supervision and capable of setting personal objectives to meet requirements
• Team player with strong personal integrity
