Our client is a major engineering company and is seeking candidates for a long term contract positions (could last for years) as REFINERY PROJECT ENGINEERS at a refinery in Northern California (San Francisco Bay Area). They are well-known for having a positive work atmosphere and friendly environment. The positions Requires 5 to 10 years of industrial project experience, preferably in the Refining/Petrochemical or related field with a minimum of 5 years experience as a Project Engineer. Strong communication, time management, interpersonal, and computer skills are also required. Computer skills in Microsoft Office Environment, such as MS Project preferred. MS Excel skill is required. Skills Required Project Engineer, Refinery Experience and/or Petrochemical, Refinery / Petrochemical Plant Operation, PFDs, P&IDs, Piping Drawings, Hydraulic Calculations, Design Calculations, Structural Steel Drawings, Construction Drawings, etc. • B. S. degree in Chemical or Mechanical Engineering or Technical is required. • Knowledge of PFDs, P&IDs, piping drawings, structural steel drawings and construction drawings is required. • The ability to perform Hydraulic Calculations and design Calculations using MS Excel and/or various PC based engineering software. • Familiar with Microsoft Project is a plus. • The ability to take a project from beginning to end. • Develop capital estimates, schedules, and other information necessary for appropriation of capital funds. Job Description • Individual must be committed to safety and must attend a PSM (Process Safety Management) training class. And must pass pre-employment drug test. • Experience in Project Engineering for Capital projects (large projects). • Main focus is to coordinate project issues and provide oversight on project design by working with the project manager, engineering contractor, and various refinery departments. This requires leadership of projects from conception to unit startup including: initial project development, economic analysis, and process / project design on conceptual development and small projects. • Supports the Project Manager in the following areas: Identifying and managing the resources necessary for successful project design, execution, construction and startup. Resources include funding, equipment, materials, facilities, contractors and Company personnel. Maintain project controls as necessary to control scope and execute projects within budget and schedule constraints. Provide project leadership and demonstrate the interpersonal skills necessary to build consensus and develop superior teamwork. • Advises management of all developments (such as major design changes), which may substantially affect project schedules, interdepartmental and interdivisional relations. • Responsible for site inspections, job walk-downs, and climbing platforms (if necessary) throughout refinery facilities. • Able to develop and work with project teams with minimum supervision in an informal or formal setting. Individual must be able to work professionally and technically with various levels of refinery management and personnel. • Provide technical expertise and perform design calculations. Work with design/drafting personnel to prepare construction drawings and sketches. As well as updated project and process P&IDs. Prepare technical equipment bid specifications (Such as for Pumps, Exchangers, Vessels, Heaters, etc.). Generate construction packages, including all necessary drawings, work scope descriptions, and specifications. Ability to participate and review process HAZOP studies. • Able of managing, administering and completing several projects simultaneously. Applicant must be a "US citizen or Permanent Resident (Green Card)". No visa sponsorships or transfers will be accepted. Contract positions (Long Term assignment).
