Our client, Koniambo Nickel SAS is seeking a Health & Safety Manager.
Reporting to the HSE and Permitting Director, the Health and Safety (HS) Manager is responsible for developing and managing the HS strategies and programs required for the project to achieve its objectives throughout engineering, construction, commissioning and start-up. This position will evolve into the H&S manager position in operation.

The position is located in Vavouto, New Caledonia; with responsibilities in Noumea, New Caledonia; in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia; and the project’s module construction yards.

Extensive health and safety management experience and in particular the commissioning, start up and operations of a large industrial facility, preferably mining related, is essential.

Specific duties and responsibilities include but not limited to:


* Health and safety management
* Compliance with the Project’s permits, licenses and regulations as relates to HS
* Ensure that effective means are in place to ensure the project’s full compliance with HS regulatory environment such as applicable code, standards, laws and permits.
* Ensure that comprehensive HS management plans are established and implemented throughout the project organization, including KNS, HT, contractors, sub-contractors, consultants and suppliers.
* Work with the EPCM contractor and Owner operations team to develop HS programs for the commissioning, start up, and operation of the Project. Manage the EPCM contractor in the execution of its HS services. Ensure that the EPCM contractor employs processes to promote the proactive management of HS.


Qualifications:


* BAC+5 in Health Safety Security or engineer
* At least 10 years of industrial experience with a sound knowledge of HS international best practice
* Proven track record in HS management for large industrial operations preferably in the mining and minerals sector, including commissioning
* Experience in construction contractor management is a strong asset
* Experience in culturally diverse environment
* French speaking/reading and fluent in English
* Very good knowledge of French and New Caledonian H&S regulations
