Summary:
To provide engineering designs and support as required by clients and company operations
General Duties & Responsibilities:
• Provide civil/structural design and engineering services on projects involving civil and structural construction and installation
• Specification and procurement package writing
• Engineering project management, supplier co-ordination and client communication
• Checking engineering drawings
• Assist the contracting group with business development and support, as well as tendering work and estimation
• Sign and seal civil/structural drawings for construction purposes
• Conduct signoff for statutory and regulatory requirements
• Provide backup and support to the US General Manager of Engineering during times of absence or when circumstances dictate
Supervisory Responsibilities:
• Provide engineering supervision of on site construction of structural steel and concrete
• Provide support to US General Manager of Engineering to ensure drawings are completed on schedule
Health & Safety:
• Work in compliance with U.S. federal and state regulatory and statutory requirements for Health and Safety
• Work in compliance with all Health and Safety rules and regulations for organization, also applicable to outside clients and Operations Groups projects
• Be aware of any health and safety hazards or infractions and report same to Health and Safety Department
Client Focus:
• Ensure that Operations’ goals and objectives are completely understood and communicated to the US Engineering Group
• Strive to satisfy our external clients’ needs and always clarify/communicate with them how the engineering group can best meet their objectives in terms of resources, cost and schedule
• Follow-up with all clients on services provided and determine level of satisfaction and how services can be improved (this is a requirement of our ISO certification)
Qualifications/Education/Experience:
• Bachelor of Applied Science in Civil or Structural Engineering
• 10 - 15 years of engineering design experience in an industrial setting
• Registered Professional Engineer designation (state of Utah preferred)
Skills/Knowledge/Abilities:
• Good communication skills
• Organization, Planning, Forecasting and Project management experience
• General knowledge of applicable mining regulations, safety codes and acts
• Familiar with underground excavation and construction of mine development, shafts, raises and construction for mine infrastructure
• Familiar with estimating and able to scheduling using MS Project
