This client is an Australian leader in the power industry, with major operations in Victoria and New South Wales setting the benchmark in standards for industry. With major power plant assets in the southeast region, this principal company provides power for thousands of homes in an environmentally friendly, conservative manner, one that you can be proud of as an employee! As a result of planned brownfield projects in the coming years, a requirement has arisen for a project engineer to join their team in Melbourne.

The position of project engineer comes with it a high level of responsibility for the successful delivery of projects, generally up to $15M in value. Key functions include:

• Assessment of tenders and contract management
• Identification of project plans and directives
• Management of project teams
• Coordination of different elements of a project
• Project initiation and execution supervision
• Liaison with consultants, contractors and suppliers
• Management of Sub-contractors
• Commercial and financial analysis
• Compliance with quality, OHS and environmental systems

The ideal applicant will have extensive experience in managing projects in the power generation industry. Power plant construction exposure will be a major advantage, especially in a brownfields or upgrade capacity. Heavy industrial, utility or petrochemical construction will also be considered. Relevant tertiary qualifications and additional training will also be important. As you will be delegated with full responsibility of ensuring timely delivery of projects to specification and within budget, an understanding of the performance requirements from the contractor will be essential.
